I remember awhile back someone posted an article with graphs that showed the failure rate on contraceptives over 20 years. Since the failure rate is measure in percentage per year, when you take into account the number of years women are sexually active, the number of women who get pregnant even while on contraception is very high. So like, if the pill has a failure rate of 2% per year, and you have 100 women, 2 will get pregnant each year. Over 20 years, that's 40 women out of the 100. Even over 10 years, that's 20 women.

I've known a LOT of women who got pregnant even while on BC, with an IUD, etc, including myself. Very weird how some people like to pass judgement, like all us women are just dying to trap a man

Do you not teach your kids at an appropriate age that having sex can inadvertently lead to pregnancy? Or it only happens when one wants to get pregnant?

FU. I posted on this thread. I got pregnant while using two forms of birth control, so yes, it was a surprise.

I'm the one with the parents married for almost 50 years. We are European and at that time, all contraceptives including abortion were illegal. So the only prevention was abstinence, pull and pray, and natural fertility method. Only one method works really great but I think my parents failed that one.

Did I say that I or no one else doesn’t do it to not conceive? Since you struggle with reading comprehension, the question is how are people surprised when they find out they are pregnant after sex? Doesn’t sex=pregnancy? You must live in a convent to believe they are immaculate conceptions.

I have a college friend who made it work. They moved to the midwest and became fundamentalist Trumpers. Had a few more kids. They appear to be making it work and are very happy. I think deep down they are both very committed to image, so that helped in some ways. But like I said, they appear happy. This was not how we thought it'd end up 20 years ago though!

My BIL and his wife got married after she was pregnant w a surprise baby. It’s been 10 years. They are miserable together and have finally filed for divorce after years of struggling to make their marriage work. My BIL has told us that he regrets that they had kids together. He loves his kids of course but has really not enjoyed co parenting w his stbx.

We are divorced now (years after oops baby was conceived pre-marriage). Not amicably.
