“Cap” is something negative — a bummer, a lie, an injustice. “My teacher told me I couldn’t do extra credit/the ref called a foul on that/my mom said I couldn’t go out until I clean my room.” “That’s cap!”

“No cap” is roughly “Truly, my good sir, I present the information without any desire to lie.”
“No cap, Mom, my room is clean/there’s a pop quiz in 3rd period — no cap/No cap, that practice was a killer.

You may here them talking about their "dawgs" (friends), or the "beyotches" (women they don't like). "Broke ass" is an insult they like to use. You may also here them say something like "that sh*t is DOPE" which also means really good. Okay you're up to date on lingo

Which date? The 90s?
Lol I thought the same thing, the only thing even mildly new on this list is cap and mid.

Yep - because they all watch Grey's Anatomy. I never thought when I started watching it 17 years ago, that I would still be watching it but now with my teens!

Even if you know the "teen lingo" as soon as you say it will die. Just don't even try.

+1. I was going to type a couple of things but realized they must be out since I know them. I can’t keep up and don’t try. I just ask, can you explain that to me? Or I Google it if I see it online.

SIMP is an abbreviation that's a little profane, but my kids don't know, and I'm not telling them.
