Talk to her Teacher and see if there is a way forward. There is a logic for requiring the IAAT but they do look at other indicators.

That was terrible advice on the test, PP. Except in cases where there is negative grading, it is always part of test taking strategy to guess on the questions you can’t answer, or when you run out of time. Odds are, there would be at least a few questions that would have been answerable, so your 20-25% chance of being right by luck kind of offsets that.

I am the pp that asked about prerequisites for TJ.
So my DD was in AAP LVLIV from 3rd grade. Has mostly got 4s on her math report card and advance pass in math every year.
She is interested in TJ. Following my advice she did not prep for the IAAT and did not get through she scored at the 84th.
I feel like I ruined her chances.
To give you perspective she has sound math fundamentals and is already doing algebra. She was slow at the test and left many questions unanswered.
I also advised her against marking answers randomly for the ones couldn’t solve as we won’t know actually how much she got.
She has done well on math Olympiad that school conducted where as peers prepping for IAAT not so much.

Earlier someone posted that in the previous selection process a kid did not stand a chance to get into TJ if they did not take algebra I hons in 7th grade.
So my question: Is the new selection process is here to stay? Or after the lawsuit is it going back to how it was before.
Are there any other ways to take algebra I hons outside school in the 7th or geometry outside school before applying for TJ. Would like to add that my DD likes competition math like Olympiad.

Many kids jump up from regular 6th grade math to M7H. Many kids also jump up from regular math 7 to Algebra I Honors.

Is it difficult academically for kids to go from regular 6th gr math to Math 7 to algebra 1 Honors (in 8th grade)?
Our base HS does not offer Algebra 1 Honors in 9th grade in person. If student wants to take it they have to take it online which I don’t think is ideal and many don’t do that.
