Do the baristas get paid a premium to work in an airport?

It seems like a really hard and thankless job, plus annoying volume and logistics of getting to and from work.

But yeah, in my experience every airport Starbucks has been terrible. The baristas seem poorly trained, unprofessional and unhappy.

Exactly. If this many people were getting food poisoning from an airport Starbucks you'd hear about it as it would impact hundreds of people. The line is always a mile long. They do a ton of business.

They're not. Pretty sure it's just one person who is posting everywhere. Seems she and her husband get food poisoning on planes a lot. And like to post about it.

I went to one last summer in the Athens airport and there was just one gal with short red hair working the whole thing. Line got backed up a bit when a bunch of teens came through, but she kept her cool and gave everyone excellent service. The drinks were-- starbucky.... General airport workers bussed and cleaned so fortunately she wasn't responsible for that. She was probably higher IQ than in US though.

I can't deal with waiting in those long lines so I just never get it. Why don't they have self serve similar to 7-11 or any gas station coffee place available? I have waited 15 min in those Starbucks airport lines and then the person in front of me orders 5 extremely complicated drink orders... blah. At least they should have a fast line for drip coffee orders.

Starbucks burns its coffee. It’s nasty and overpriced shit.

+100 to all Starbucks being terrible. Why does anyone drink them?

LOL they ones in the case are just a display. They are not serving those.

My husband got food poisoning from an airport Starbucks coming home from spring break this year.

As for airport Starbucks, it seems fine to me. It’s usually busy, so that means the coffee is usually fresh.

If you can have milk or cream, and you've had bad experiences with the milk, get the cream. It lasts much longer before going bad.

Starbucks is horrible on a good day. Go somewhere else

I order from an airport Starbucks maybe 1-2x a year and it's always fine. If there's a long line I skip it...though some airport locations do accept mobile orders and that's helpful when there is a line of people waiting to order. Or if there's local options I'll try that.

I do agree that the Starbucks inside places can be hit or miss. A couple of years ago I used to go the one inside the Safeway at Bradley and Arlington. The same lady was always there and she made my drink perfectly, and was super nice. The staff at the new Westbard Giant are very nice and friendly but my drink never quite tastes as perfect as from a standalone Starbucks, and I can't pinpoint why. I was hoping Westbard would open the standalone Starbucks soon but with Tatte coming I doubt that's happening now.
