Do they have to choose between using the bathroom because they have to use the bathroom and being late to class and getting in trouble for that?
I think its absolutely hilarious that the parents on this site complain all the time about how nobody ever uses discipline or consequences anymore (there was like a 30 page thread specifically related to Deal this fall), and then, when Deal implements a consequence, the parents can't believe that their child would ever be inconvenienced. God bless Ms. Neal and please let me know if you ever need me to send you a bottle of wine for dealing with these nuts.
Are the kids responsible being held to account? Are they being disciplined for their behavior? Where do you see appropriate consequences that would change the behavior?

It's actually awesome. F those kids. If they keep ruining a priviledge - take it away.

Bathrooms have always been an issue there. Lots of terrible conduct. My two former Deal students always would rush home and straight into the home bathroom because they hated using the bathrooms at Deal - they never had soap, often were broken and inevitably there was always some kid causing trouble there. Many students just didn't feel safe using those bathrooms. So sad that it has come to the school actually closing the bathroom though - I assume that is the solution the school landed on because they tried everything else. But really, that is the sign of a facility that should be shut down for code violations.

I have a quiet girl who has never caused a trouble. She has a congenital issue and gets frequent UTIs. She needs to use the bathroom. She has told me that she can't find an open one during the short breaks she has. Several times she has given up.
I'm contacting the school. I'll get a letter from her urologist and from an attorney if needed. She underwent multiple surgeries as a child and has kidney scarring from the UTIs. I'm not letting this insane policy further damage her kidneys. Maybe Deal should think about this before they implement such an insane policy.
And no, she's not "triggered" by using a different bathroom. She just needs A bathroom, ANY bathroom but on several occasions has not been able to find an open one.

Bathrooms aren’t a privilege. They are a right. Do you have to walk for 10 minutes at work to find somewhere to pee that might not have toilet paper or soap when you get there?
I also dont f-up bathrooms at work and expect to be rewarded for it by my mommy

You don't take away bathroom privileges. I am escalating this. I am so over Deal.
Is your child unable to go to the other bathroom or is he triggered by using a different bathroom?
WTF is wrong with you? Maybe the kid needs to be close to the bathroom because of their condition. Maybe walking to the other side of the building multiple times a day means they miss a lot of class. I like Ms. Neal and defend her on here regularly, but closing bathrooms is a terrible solution (even as I recognize that with staff shortages and other challenges there is no good solution).
Have some empathy.
