I hear you op. 39. Target and kohl’s mostly. It’s hard but I feel like I find cute enough stuff there and just go with it multiple colors.

I'm 38. I'm postpartum but will be same size as my 20s (0/2) once I wean and lose these last 10 lbs.

OP - on your budget, look at J Crew Factory. The number of items for sale each season is fairly limited and it is easy to put together an outfit from the coordinated items. Similar to Target in price and quality. Watch for sales.

Also Ann Taylor and Loft - with a big caveat. Some seasons are total duds so it varies. Only buy on sale, it’s not worth full price. If a season has a color palette you like, get a few pieces. Watch for the florals and prints and avoid unless you LOVE one - they can be pretty frumpy and aging if you are not careful.

I've been digging Club Monaco and Aritiza lately. I also find fun things at Mango. I have a pair of Mango shoes that are comparable to my Ferragamos and were a lot less expensive. Also been checking out Frank & Eileen, Maje, and Nordstrom is an easy place to find stuff. I keep trying Everlane, but then never find something I like. JCrew and Banana Republic have been surprising me lately too, in a good way.

I’m 36. I tend to buy very simple clothes, but go for higher quality when it makes sense to. Then I wear things to death.

Same. Plus Maje and Sandro too. I have very few clothes, but they're high quality.

When I first started working, 15 years ago, women’s professional clothing had features that now are very hard to find: fully lined pants, 100% wool, shell buttons, hidden zippers, 100% silk etc.

Some brands that had these features then and now typically don’t include: Ann Taylor, Brooks Brothers, J Crew, and Banana Republic. Talbots to some extent.

Many people buy designer on Poshmark as well.

NP. I’m right there with you in wishing I had stocked up on these items before they changed. I even have Gap sweaters from 10-12 years ago that I still wear (or would if they still fit). But I have a really hard time sorting through Poshmark to find diamonds in the rough. Maybe I’m just not doing it right. How are you figuring out the appropriate time period a piece was manufactured?
