For some unknown reason, people keep telling me Facebook is a private company. Nothing on their servers is public.
The profile page was public facing. Facebook account holders have the option to lock their accounts down or various levels of sharing. Content that's shared doesn't enjoy any privacy.

DP. This was not doxxing. Doxxing is digging up personal information about a private person that is not readily publicly and the posting it online to enable and encourage the faceless mob to stalk, harass and threaten them. That is not what happened here. The Washington Post obtained evidence that a public official previously expressed views that make them unfit to hold their position. Having obtained that evidence, it was very much in the public interest to have this information aired. They handled that information responsibly as journalists. That the public official lost their job over it does not make it inappropriate.

Have you any knowledge that being asked to resign is a privilege compared to being fired?
It is a privilege but it can be less contentious and the results are the same.
