Mock all you want. No interest in being around this or for my children to be exposed to it. My choice, free country.

I’ve never voted Rep. I voted for legalizing drugs. But I’d vote for anyone who’s bring peace back to the streets and would vote to ban marijuana in a second, having had to live with it now. The city is a mess and smells like a used sock.

But there are neighborhoods where this does not happen and that’s where I choose to live.

I was on a Federal Grand Jury for over a year. Gangs are everywhere, though some areas have more than others.

The good thing is that MD has a really good investigative task force and they prevent many crimes from occurring. Of course they can’t catch everything. Lots of small businesses are bullied by gangs which threaten them and then charge for protection. Especially in immigrant owned businesses.

Montgomery County has plenty of MS-13 gang activity. It is in the news all the time. There are areas you won't notice it but it exists in the background. Here is an article (yes, it's a few years old) that explains who gang members target.)

https://www.wusa9.com/article/news/local/maryland/facts-about-ms-13-in-maryland-virginia/65-436466709

This is from a more a 2021 article:
https://www.justice.gov/usao-md/pr/ms-13-gang-leader-pleads-guilty-racketeering-conspiracy-gang-activities-including-murders

MS-13 is a national and international gang composed primarily of immigrants or descendants from El Salvador and other central American countries. Branches or “cliques” of MS-13, one of the largest street gangs in the United States, operate throughout Frederick County, Anne Arundel County, Prince George’s County, and Montgomery County, Maryland.

“Tourist” gangs are breaking into the homes of primarily South Asian families. These gang members travel from other states to do the work and then go home and take their kids to Little League practice.

Avoid wealthy suburbs.

As someone who went to a HS that had actual gangs, of course, I wouldn't want to live in an area with gang activity, but I'm just wondering what proof there is of gang activity in some of these cities.

Look up local news. They busted a major cartel in VA and it was underreported nationally. Google the area to exhaustion of the results. Check local papers and crime stats. Google drag racing and ATVs and the area

First of all, drag racing is not indicative of gang activity. I'm not sure why you would think that. Did you watch too much Fast and Furious?

I look at the local news, and while there is crime everywhere, that doesn't mean ALL crime is related to gang activity.

So, I'll ask again... where exactly are we seeing gang activity? I'm not saying it doesn't exist. I'm asking specifically where the gang activity is taking place.

They’re separate but sometimes related. Some drag racers and ATV drivers have attacked people here per the news report. I have no desire to associate with either. All of these btw are certainly criminal activities. Don’t care if you mock it. Better not to live near it. Antisocial behaviors suck. Crime sucks even worse. I have a choice. That’s it.

You don't have kids I assume.

Why do you assume?

Avoid dumpsters.

OP, Better not live anywhere there are dumpsters.

But this body was dumped on the side of Old Georgetown Road several hundred feet from the back of a house. They didn’t bother with a dumpster. Dumpsters have cameras trained on them sometimes, silly.

Apologies if I offended anyone, just trying to find the safest place I can for my family that we can afford. If there’s an increased chance for stray bullets in certain places I’d feel more comfortable not living there.

You don't look at zip code maps, I assume. Dp in 20906 with kids. 20906 is huge and diverse in both population and incomes.

Thanks for linking a news article from 2017. Did you forget what year this is? If the problem has gotten worse, please provide a recent article and stats. thanks.
