Cabinet Secretaries make like $200k. It would be nearly 25% of his gross for one kid.
Ohh ouch, you're right.
Actually, it's much worse because tuition is paid in after-tax dollars. At 200K he's paying 40%.
Well...his husbands a teacher and I heard there's a shortage. I'd step in now for the 2022/23 school year so i could get a discount for enrollment in 2023/24.
And the SFS community would proudly welcome Chasten with open arms.
I think it would be awesome. He looks like a kind person who would have enjoyed his teaching position and we need more people like him.

Last year, the School raised tuition by an aggregate of 3.0%; Tuition rates for the 2022-23 academic year are as follows:
Grades PK-2: $47,200
Grades 3-4: $49,040
Grades 5-8: $51,240
Grades 9-12: $51,650
This is utterly ridiculous.
And the rates aren't the same across all grade levels. The increase for MS is 7.5%. Unconscionable.

Hear, hear! I've been a Sidwell parent for more than a decade and the school is now basically unmoored from its mandate -- teaching -- at this point. Instead, social engineering is the curriculum. God, I hope that's not where the money is going.
This is my concern too. The breakdown they gave as to an explanation of this is pretty vague.
