Look at how Russia is run - white, male oligarchs control massive financial resources, have no accountability to anyone as long as they don't step out of line with Putin, and control the political direction of a massive country.

Russia doesn't have to pay them. The above societal structure appeals to them and they would like to replicate it here. There's not mystery, this is all it is.

One of his beliefs is not to get involved in the foreign affairs of other countries when it doesn't affect the US. You can argue whether that is the case with Ukraine - and I think there are good arguments on both sides. And Carlson would welcome this argument on his show.
He has also pointed out that the Biden administration is more worried about Ukraine's borders than the US borders. I agree with him 100% on this statement.
