Many women make the same decisions. You are going to get married, you get along with most people…why not pick the one with money? Would you pick the Harvard educated investment banker or the state school mid level defense contractor?

Mental and emotional illness. They've already tried to have real partnerships or marriage that failed.

As someone who has only had relationships with international girls/women since I was 15 years old, and met them all live in the flesh in either high school, college, or grad school, I'll just say that women from different countries have different perspectives and attributes than American women. No country's women are a monolith, but there are certain statements or perspectives you'll hear from an American woman that will sound ridiculous to a woman from the Czech republic, from China, or from Germany (the cultures I have dated and/or married). Vice versa is also true. There is no one size fits all spouse, but certain men like me just feel that we match better with people from different cultures. I never "fit in" to the American mentality so I guess that's why

Wow. There was not a whit of sarcasm in my post, which preceded yours. It took me years to learn and accept what men really are like and what they actually want. I think every women, especially we entitled, as I said, American women, should learn far earlier in life than we do. There would be fewer marriages (and kids) but the marriages that did take place would be better. Men want service with a smile. Are we willing to give it to them?

I know of one similar relationship like this, not mail order bride because it was 2 men, and I don't know if s similar system exists for gay relationships, but it was a case of control and fetishizing the younger party's ethnicity. It was double sad in this case because the younger person was from a country with zero gay rights so they were under alot of pressure to put up with stuff from the older partner. Not saying it was abusive but is was a very controlling relationship.

No; they want a wife intelligent enough to consistently give the appearance of submitting and who is also smart enough to make the effort to maintain her physical appearance. I have known plenty of Eastern European women who are devastatingly smart and confident and opinionated. They simply are taught that the way to maintain a marriage to a financially successful man is not by arguing with him openly on a regular basis. They get him addicted to their approval and praise -- expertly faked, however insincere -- and the ego rush of having a fit, well-groomed, and traditionally feminine woman at his side in public. Then they manipulate him ruthlessly to get exactly what they want in the long or short term. Everybody happy.

We have a sense of entitlement that is deeply unattractive to many men. We feel we have the right to be catered to and to make ourselves, in addition to, our husbands happy. We tend to be far less invested in maintaining a conventionally attractive appearance, believing that the value of our looks is not worth much to men, relative to our other abilities and achievements. Women in this part of the world are far more pragmatic about what many men want: the most attractive, pleasant, and cultivated attendant money can buy.

It's easy to make money in the U.S. but many like these men have mental and emotional issues. If they are much younger it's even worse.

Up until 10 years ago it made sense for a lot of classy educated beautiful women from Eastern Europe and the former Soviet republics to marry into the west. Now, not so much. The economies have developed and they have much easier access to foreign countries through visas. There are still opportunities for 40 year old guys to marry well particularly if they are willing to marry someone who already has a child/divorced. But anyone older than that will have a lot more trouble. Single beautiful women in those countries have a lot of options. There are plenty of men. However, men age and die much more quickly due to alcoholism and other issues so there is definitely a gender imbalance over age 50. Not so much at younger ages.
