I make a soup or stew at least once a week in winter. We don't want to eat soup every day though.

Oh, I’m deeply entrenched in the soup cult already, but thank you for the invitation! I have it virtually every day for lunch. I’ve brought one of my kids into the fold as well—potato leek soup made with nothing but potatoes, leeks, salt and water and then puréed is one of his favorite meals. It’s the growing of the vegetable part that seems so dreamy. So far I’ve just managed herbs and random squash that sows itself from the compost pile. A vegetable garden is a huge part of my fantasy of retired life.


It helps that we live out in NW VA, so we’ve got the space for a decent garden in the backyard. That said, my cucumbers didn’t do as great this past summer. I was definitely eating more gazpacho than the cucumber soup. But if you’ve got space for volunteer squash to grow, then you should plant a tomato plant or two! If I could only plant one thing, tomatoes would be it. They’re so freaking good in season!

About 3-4 times a week during the winter.

I love it - filling and many recipes are healthy. It’s a nice break from a salad.

Favorites are lentil vegetable, barefoot contessas winter minestrone and broccoli and cheese (ok that ones not exactly healthy but I love it)

I grew up in San Diego. There used to be Soup Plantations (chain restaurant) everywhere. A buffet of soups and salads. I loved that place. I was so disappointed when they closed, but looking back the name is obviously awful.

Once a week

My husband isn’t a soup guy, but it’s really just some mental block from growing up. He always asks what else I’m making as though soup is a side dish. It’s not, it’s a full meal.

My soups are hardy and filling. Not just a broth.

Last night was sausage, kale and sweet potatoes. Spicy with a little sweet.

I LOVE soup.

I make a big pot of soup every Sunday and we have it for dinner that night with some type of homemade bread. Then I eat it for lunch all week.

I never eat soup. I always disliked it. However, I come from a country where soup is the first dish of every lunch. Lunch is our main meal of the day.
My kids love soup, my grandpa ate mostly soups, my dad loved soups. Our soups are more of a clear broth with noodles type, but other soup-like dishes are also a norm and a meal. For example, white bean soup, stew, pea soup, etc.
In fact, I am a total anomaly in both my family and among my countrymen.

Probably three or four times a week in the fall and winter, and a couple of times per week in the summer. I love so many kinds!
