This is almost as bad as “national” ODP teams for 8th graders.

That's one of the problems with this proposed league, it's a club v club setup. So if you're 07s are great but 08s not so much and 09s are aren't very good, then it will make for very uneven competition. These town teams don't have the player pool to be consistent across all age groups the way ECNL and GA teams (mostly) are.. Also, with 8 clubs stretching from VA to Maine- that's one per state, way more travel than ECNL or GA https://www.usysnationalleague.com/a...ew_1-17-22.pdf
USYS had a decent option with their open league, promotion/relegation based on performance per team. This is a big step in the wrong direction and it will fail miserably.

That first statement is actually a great point. As far as the travel, no, you are not reading it correctly. It actually minimizes the travel by having a couple of tournament / showcase like events where the teams from the various regions meet and play. We shall see I guess. I do think there is the market for a 2nd top league. ECNL 1. does not reach everywhere and 2. ECNL has become somewhat watered down and it will keep them on their toes regarding elite players.

This looks like a worse travel requirement from either ECNL or GAL. The division that includes VA, MD, DC, where teams will be playing at least 14 league games, also includes NY, MA, NJ, PA? That's way worse than occasional games in NC/NJ/DE that we get today. Traveling to NY and MA for league games? No thanks.

Maybe this is too obvious, and why it isn't being mentioned, but the major attraction of club-based leagues is that on any given weekend the club's teams at multiple age groups are playing against the same club in the same general vicinity, making de-conflicting games for coaches who coach multiple teams far easier.

Don't the U10 Samba Boyz do this with their "national schedule"?

Doesn't ECNL do this?

This looks very much like CCL branding and expanding themselves to the west coast. They have north east, mid-Atlantic , and south eastern regions already covered and it’s their way of moving out west. Ccl is already participated in the current “national” league. The wording of standards and philosophy is essentially the same in the document.
