There are programs that suggest you do this to avoid spread. Like, from Dept. of Health.
Why would you WANT spread?
Why wouldn't you send the people WITHOUT COVID to the hotel? Why would you knowingly send sick people to a public place?

A couple times DH or I have even slept on the couch when the other one is sick, although I think we had so little success with that that we didn't bother. That's hard to do with little ones, though. I'm not sure how much I would try that with a two year old.
