He’s thinking about marriage and how it will impact things.

Thing is, it will be your marriage and yiu both can decide on how to split finances. Every couple handles things differently from the next.

+1 as someone who drug my feet on marrying because “it’s just a piece of paper,” all it took was him wrecking his motorcycle and me being at the mercy of his parents (who he had a horrible relationship with) to even let me know how surgery went to change my tune. We had looked into the legal docs we needed to create the effect of marriage and it was far easier to get married and have all that automatically than hope we didn’t miss something important (POA, transfers on death, beneficiary of a long forgotten 401k, etc).

It may be as simple as he's wondering if it makes sense for you two to have one checking account or separate accounts. When I got married my H and I decided to get separate accounts within the first year because it was too difficult keeping track of the balance when we both used the same account.

It also made sense for me to pay all household bills from my account because it was simpler even though we combined our funds.

Talk to him and find out what's on his mind. Lots of other PPs are speculating about everything in your life, they are just guessing what's going on, only you two know.
