We are All the Same in the Dark by Julia Heaberlin

Thanks! I’ve read a couple of these and have one on the reserve list. Will add the others.

There have been good suggestions here. Goodreads also does a poll for favorites at the end of the year so 2021 recently came out. I always try to read the top 2-3 from the genres I like.

OP - if you're looking for ideas on how to pick a next book - my sister sorted her Goodreads to read list by highest rating to pick her next book. I did the same and plan to read The Nightingale soon, as a result

I’ll give this a try. Thanks for the idea!

Just looked this up - Book 3 in a series! Very exciting. Thanks!

Thank you! Something Wild sounds too intense for me right now. I love Strout and this is on my list. Don’t know the Maynard book but will look for it. Thanks again

OP here. I haven’t loved her books in the way many people seem to. Not sure why, exactly.

The Ugly Cry by Danielle Henderson. It's brilliant and heart wrenching and funny all at the same time.

All You Can Ever Know, by Nicole Chung. About what it was like growing up in white America as a korean adoptee with white parents. It's beautiful and a must read for white people!

The Stranger in the Woods, by Michael Finkel. All about a man who lived for 25 years in the woods of Maine 100% off grid. No human contact at all! Fascinating and mind boggling all at once.

Added the first two, thanks! I read The Stranger in the Woods and liked it. I felt bad for the subject of the book - Finkel seemed to hound him and almost harass him. Idk how he survived outside like that, based on my own experience with Maine winters.

Have you read The Nightingale? One of my favorites.

I have read both. Thank you!

You’re welcome!

The books…
The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo
The Invisible Life of Addie Larue
….Were also good.

Are you on Facebook? There’s a group called “What Should I read next?” that is very helpful!

Omg, Evelyn Hugo - I read it three times!

I’ll make a FB account to join that group, thanks! I only use Goodreads and I’m reading I don’t have a lot of friends who read :/

We are kindred book friends, op! You’re welcome, enjoy the fb group!

We are! Sorry, I meant I am realizing I don’t have a lot of friends who read.

Thanks again!
