Good thing it’s not your kid she’s naming then, huh? Be nice or move along.

No, that's not how it works. It's not "Pay me compliments or say nothing."

They’re the same name to me. There is a toddler across the street with one of them and I can’t for the life of remember which and always get it wrong. I guess I prefer Everett slightly for the nature over redneck vibes. But not really since they are interchangeable in my brain.

If it's all white kids, he will probably have another kid with a name like this in class. If there is any type of diversity, you will be fine. My DD has a trendier name for the year she was born and there isn't even a single other child with that name in her entire elementary school (over 700 kids). But we do live in a pretty diverse area.

Funny enough one of the names I do hear repeats of is Beckett, which gives me Emmet vibes but is clearly not the same name.

My point: either name will be fine. I'd do a one syllable middle name just because I like how it sounds.

I know a family with a Beckett and an Emmett. So, yeah, similar vibe. That Emmett is white. I also have an Emmett in my daughter's preschool class and he's mixed race.

I prefer Emmett to Everett just for personal reasons (I knew an Everett), but both are similar, nice, names. I especially like them with a one syllable middle name, like this PP.

Luke is a great MN suggestion!

Same, never heard of Everett for a girl.

For Everett (or Beckett) I generally agree w this. But Emmett is a name I’ve heard used by multiple racial/ethnic groups so it seems more likely to be popular in a diverse school.

a bit dreary though. a little rain cloud as a middle name.

Everett, I guess. Neither are good but only one immediately brings to mind a gruesome murder.

I really like Emmett Gray, and I think it sounds nice with a longer 4-syllable last name. Actually really love Gray as a mn in general— it’s simple and strong without being overdone. Really nice.
