Realistically I think water safety is a bigger risk to kids than covid. I have two boys who do swim team. I theoretically want to get my youngest daughter back in swim lessons but she’s on a gymnastics pre team that is really too much for us already so I’m having trouble fitting it in.

I was considered gifted in art so they put me on the art track. They tested me for math, science and English and since I was performing well above grade level, they didn’t require any courses

DP, but the person you’re responding too, couldn’t have asked a question in a more respectful way and was clearly not trying to offend the person he was responding too. You’re the type of person that makes people hate forums. You suck, and have you ever heard that no question is a dumb question? Your kids probably hate coming to you to ask anything as condescending as you are

One of our kids is 4, so we decided to pause for the next few weeks. The swim lessons are pretty packed and my kids take forever to change after lessons. I try to put a mask on them right after the get in the changing area, but they get all wet and gross. I hate that we're paying for a few weeks we aren't using to hold our spot, but I can't deal with more quarantine (already done that once in December) and want to reduce the risk of that as much as possible.

I honestly think it's possible it will be canceled or postponed by the organizers without you needing to cancel, and that will make your decision. My kids' extracurriculars have all been canceled, even though they are outdoor activities involving masks. Don't know why swimming hasn't been.

I wouldn’t cancel assuming both kids are vaccinated and all household members are. My kid does swim team at Fairland and pool closed last week out of an abundance of caution, until the 18th I think….if they hadn’t closed my vaccinated 9yo

Our town pool (not in DMV) just started offering group swim lessons again, after offering no lessons at all since March 2020. It's partly a labor shortage-- no one wants to teach swimming and expose themselves to COVID. I don't think we could get private lessons if we tried right now.

I'm not cancelling my kids' lessons, but apparently some people are, because my kids got off the waitlist for the class I wanted yesterday (class started today). I'm more worried about accidental drowning than COVID for my vaccinated kids.

We did not cancel as our whole family had a bout with covid in
mid December so we figured we might as well. With so many cancellations my 6 year old was the only one in her small group class and got one on one instruction.

We did swim, with our last class being the second week of December. Our next set of classes started today and we decided not to go this weekend. This is despite the fact that we had Covid over Christmas. I have seen mixed statements on how contagious Omicron is and whether you can get it again? We aren’t canceling though. I’m hoping to feel comfortable going next weekend. If not, hopefully Omicron does peak and ebb by the end of the month.

We’re still keeping up with swim lessons.
