We feed a hybrid of raw (Steve’s brand frozen patties- we order 13 lb boxes through a local pet supply store) and a high quality kibble. The cost of full raw for two large dogs is above our budget. Dogs also digest raw food faster. Our dogs get hungry too soon if they only eat raw.

We’ve noticed a huge difference in our dogs’ coats- so healthy!- and their teeth are cleaner. One dog couldn’t tolerate chicken when he was younger (when we fed him just standard dry food), but since starting raw can eat it with no issues.

We usually rotate between three different flavors and occasionally add in a fish flavored dry food that they love.

So.....you trust your vet to treat your pets, but you don't want them to make a living at it, is that right?

Yes, medications cost more with them - because they do not get the huge bulk discount that Chewy/CVS/Costco gets....

If everyone keeps treating their vet as spectacularly as you are, there won't be any left because they are leaving the profession in droves.....low pay, long hours, and unappreciative clientele....

Um...yes it is.....practices have limited hours, not accepting new clients, etc....and many have closed. The remaining ones are busting their a$$es to make up for it and are EXHAUSTED. So keep going, hot stuff.....

In the old days? Do you mean when they were undomesticated? Or do you mean 100 years ago....when the dogs lived much shorter lives due to lack of antibiotics, diagnostics, etc....you do realize dogs live longer now, right? And that is why there is more cancer?

I posted a while back. We feed our guys Carna4. It's the closest thing to raw. Our vet, who I love dearly, feeds her dogs Iams. So I don't follow her food advice.
