You’re joking but I had been trying to put it out of my mind, and then bizarrely she knew a reference from a 1990s kids movie that isn’t a “cult classic” and I was like, ??? And then started this thread.

Our au pair came to us via rematch. She was our first au pair from South America. After au pair and my mom spent a week together on vacation, my mom said she thinks our au pair is around 30, not 22 as she claims. I don’t know what to think. It’s true that she looks older, but I’m this day and age how could someone falsify their age? Would this even be possible from South American countries? I have no idea what I should do. Is this a completely crazy idea that I should just put out of my mind?

I mean, maybe? If someone claimed to be a 22 yr old recent college graduate and had crows feet and forehead lines I might do a little digging for a graduation announcement.
Why? What’s it to you?

Anonymous wrote:For the people saying "who cares?" Are you idiots? This isn't just an employee but someone living in OP's home. If she's lying about something as simple as her age, red damn flag.
Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Who cares? Also, IMO it's extremely difficult to guess age accurately. You shouldn't assume you're right - it's much more plausible that you are wrong than that she faked her age.
That’s why I’m asking. For an American it would be obvious to me that I’m wrong. Faking all the documentation would be hard. I just don’t know how hard it would be for her.

Why? Pretty easy to falsify a birth certificate
And get it past a passport office?
