What percentage of staff and students are being tested in those jurisdictions? ACPS is doing very minimal testing, that requires families to opt-in on a weekly basis. Participation rates are low. But if the general positivity rate is already 20%, can the schools really be less than 10%? Seems unlikely.

So, you’re just going to ignore what health care workers are saying? About current hospitalizations, which are at their highest levels in some areas since the pandemic started? About them reaching their breaking points from trauma and burnout? And the fact that national guard is being deployed to assist?

I don't think people understand - them we are all going to get this strain. Once we all do, it peaks, we get to move on. The more we quarantine and refuse to allow ourselves to get a mild cold which is essentially symptoms for kids when fully vax, the LONGER this whole thing is going to drag.

A cold that will peak fast and go away fast, hopefully. Still no reason to close schools.

I would be curious to see what the threshold is for DCPS. Burgundy Farm has mandatory testing for all students and staff on 1/2, closed 1/3 to process results, virtual 1/4, and the remainder of the week to be determined after considering test results and positivity rate.

I'm super frustrated with the opt in curative testing that my son has done several times through ACPS. He missed a ton of class time every time he did it, and had to make the work up. He's in middle school. They have time during advisory or lunch that the testing could be done, why not do it then? Or give out rapid tests for families to do at home. This should not be so hard, not to mention that it is only capturing the small percentage of us that opt into it anyway.

Someone needs to get the former SB Chair's kids off of DCUM. They are dragging us all down.
