Such a bummer. Wondering were there that many applying from this area? Or, should we worry about a rec?
Seems they cut over 50% this year, took fewer and deferred much fewer. Knocked the wind out of kid's sails a bit. Did not expect an admit, but thought they'd at least get deferred.
Come on, you misled your kid if they expected anything more than a rejection.
This is NOT a diss on your child, but these schools are EXTREME reaches for ALL applicants.
How did you miss that memo??
Thanks for hitting someone when they're down.
I did not mislead kid, we fully expected that rejection was a possibility, but at this stage of EA, with their strong stats, they seemed likely for at least deferral. I've been watching stats for a long time.
PS. You really don't have to be such a jerk.

So sorry--we had a similar experience (outright denied not deferred) this week (not quite Yale-caliber school, but close to it)...the rejection definitely stings. But it does look like schools are rejecting more and deferring less (probably good in the long run...why keep hope alive). I saw some statistic that Yale rejected 60 percent of EA applicants, up from something like 30 percent last year...same thing with the school my DC applied to.
It is tough but these kids are resilient and will rebound...good luck.

Public school, right?
Yeah. Not legacy either. We're just boring middle class.
Yea. Nobody in public gets into Yale without a hook.
Two kids from DC’s public school accepted by Yale last year are sjw. If anyone wants their kids to apply yale but no hook, encouraging them to right and become an activist.

what high school?
I think you mean which high school
I'd rather not say.
Yale doesn't have a Social Studies major.
And "what high school" is grammatically correct.
no, it's not grammatically correct.
+1. Sorry, but it's not. "Which high school?" is correct.
