Hampton Inn Midtown West. Clean, comfortable rooms, kind staff, price cannot be beat and a great location. When we're in NY, we're almost never in our room and want to spend on other stuff, so it works!!

The Kimberly on East 50th is dated but a good choice with kids. Larger than typical NYC rooms, queen beds vs typical fulls, several suites than won't break your budget, easy walk to Times Square etc but quieter, lower price points than more updated places. Worth a look.
