There is something about how the mind works. I'm sure it is self-protective. It's a good reason to avoid echo chambers for yourself -- you don't want to be like this. I listen to right-wing talk radio about 1/2 the time just to know what is going on, and because this effect (hard to challenge entrenched beliefs, often just doubling down) isn't specific to any particular belief. I think it's just the way the mind works.

Also just imagine if Nixon were caught bugging the Watergate today. People would be like, shrug.
Fox News would be running stories alternately claiming it didn’t happen, it was a false flag operation, and Nixon was totally justified in doing it. The mainstream media would publish stories about how Democrats also sometimes record conversations.

I understand the Commission is doing a real, live investigation here, which they don't want to get distracted from by the media circus of televised hearings. I also think they using the secrecy of the investigation to their advantage to get people to come in and talk, for fear that they'll be the ones left holding the bag.
BUT it's time for some televised hearings, before the country gets distracted further.

I struggle to understand this, but after watching Fox News or OAN for a few minutes on nights that we watch TV news, I can maybe sort of understand why. For example, last night while MSNBC was covering, news related to the Jan. 6 Commission, OAN was airing footage from Jan. 6 that was completely devoid of any of the violence that occurred that day--it literally was just shots of peaceful crowds walking to the Capitol and orderly lines of protesters walking through one of the large halls inside the Capitol. And the commentary accompanying that serene footage was about how Dems were making a big deal about a mostly peaceful protest that "got out of hand" for a few hours. I just don't see how a democracy is possible when its citizens live in two very different realities with two different sets of facts.
I’ve been saying this for months.
The RWNJ networks have been exclusively airing the same 5-6 min loop of footage from Jan 6.
They don’t show any violence. Their audience is completely ignorant to what occurred.

One of them was a PowerPoint presentation detailing steps to prevent Joe Biden from being declared the winner. A few pages of the document have been publicized on social media and various news outlets, but I haven't seen a detailed description of just how bonkers the entire presentation really is. You can download the PowerPoint from here:
https://www.mediafire.com/file/g79xlbwbubqzm5b/Congressional_Election_Fraud_Briefing_4JAN2021_v20Diseminationpptx.pdf/file
Right off the bat, the document lists these taking points:
● The Chinese systematically gained control over our election system constituting a national security emergency
● The electronic voting machines were compromised and cannot be trusted to provide an accurate vote count
● To restore confidence the “failsafe” of counting the paper ballots must be used to determine who won the election for President, Senators, Congressional Representatives
● Hand counts reported by the media are not really hand counts and easily subverted
On Page 11 it has a crazy diagram outlining the alleged fraud that includes foreign actors injecting false data from a server in Frankfurt, Germany. This is full one QAnon-level stuff. Page 15 continues the QAnon type allegations with a timeline beginning with Hugo Chavez "creating" Smartmatic. It even manages to rope in Trump lackey Ric Grennell as part of the plot.
The document provides these recommendations:
● Brief Senators and Congressmen on foreign interference
● Declare National Security Emergency
● Foreign influence and control of electronic voting systems
● Declare electronic voting in all states invalid
● LEGAL & Genuine Paper ballot counts or Constitutional remedy delegated to Congress
The most concerning part of this is the point about declaring a national security emergency. It is amazing to see how high in the Trump administration this brain-rot and coup-plotting rose.
Does Smartmatic have servers in other countries?
