OP here- thank you! Will try that too. Emailed the Mayor's office, McDuffie and his constituent services staffer...no response. Thinking a petition and Twitter campaign next. Gun violence is a problem in all wards and the city needs to do more to address the causes and prevent more incidents. People should not get killed for action to be taken like the 7 year old girl who was innocently playing in her neighborhood at the Rosedale Rec Center and was killed by a stray bullet.
I do believe that we need a combination of restorative justice, mental health, educational support, economic support, job training and law enforcement presence to combat gun violence. I was glad to see that 1 DC program focused on juvenile youth criminals does provide cognitive behavorial therapy and was funded by a grant for $500,000. This website lets you search by jurisdiction.

At the same time, I was super frustrated to see that the Mayor's new 2021 anti-gun violence initiative, Building Blocks DC, only provides up to $5000 in a grant to community-based programs...you can't really do impactful worth with youth with such little resources-https://progressivelifecenter.org/nofa/
Here is the contact information for those who work with youth and also are concerned about the rise of gun violence in the city.
