Last year was not a real year for ECNL due to COVID. (Not sure if your kid played last year or in the 1990s but my kid did.) Cost were significantly reduced due to limited travel but even so we easily spent 5-6K last year. This year we are spending more.
I travel a lot for work and prices this year for everything travel related is much higher. Hotels, restaurant meals, gas, uber, all up significantly this year. I was told rental car prices are up at least 75% this year and that is if you can find one. I have been to a couple places it was not possible to get a rental car, and 1 trip where I did get one for a week it cost more than 3 of our plane tickets combined. At some point this will have to impact travel sports leagues and how much people are willing to travel to play a game.

I don't really think it matters if the previous poster can read or not. Two tournaments/showcases within driving distance does not come anywhere near $2,400. You are definitely UNDER $1,000 for both.
So yes you could theoretically drive every day to Jeff Cup but let’s assume you don’t. At older ages these are 3 day show cases.
So 3 nights in hotel (min 400 dollars). I tank on gas for suv (100). Tournament fees (100). Meals (100)…

No matter how you slice it, you are looking at min 10K per year for all costs associated with playing ECNL in HS.
Definitely not minimum $10,000. I would say $6 to $8k would be normal.

those fees for local tourneys are for the whole team. It's more like 300-400 out of pocket. Jeff Cup, NC, SC. No more than 300 a tourney per player. ECNL showcases - we paid 600 plane tickets and 200 / night hotel per kid. Not close to 5K !
