The young people who work at the ATT store in Alexandria are mostly African American or Middle Eastern. They are a nice group of kids who have always been very helpful with my technology challenges. They must have been scared to death when this happened.

It would be one thing if people were stealing things they needed but couldn't afford (like people taking food, diapers, water, etc during Katrina or another natural disaster, or someone taking baby formula or tampons) but that doesn't seem to be the case at all here, people are purely stealing to resell and make money. I know this is probably a troll but a lot of people actually think stores are claiming insurance against random thefts. They do not. They pass it on to consumers and will eventually close if the shoplifting gets bad enough costing employees their jobs, in addition leading to “food deserts” and the like
