Denver fan PP here -- I love that there's a filter for air quality! When I was deciding on posts abroad, I had a spreadsheet column for air quality.

Denver air is pretty bad. Wildfire smoke for 3 consecutive summers as well.

Yeah Denver is very dry and dusty.

- define a normal UMC PA suburb without many apartments as “6/10 low density” and only medium for trees. I picked trees on my filter since I could not live on the plains or dry places that do not have them but did not mean I needed to live in a forest.

It also uses Niche for school rankings.

Climate risk ranking was really odd. No idea how it is calculated. The town I picked is in central PA so not a hot spot for any sort of crazy weather yet it got a 0/10 for climate risk as in SUPER high risk.

If it is near Susquehanna maybe flooding

Poster above re: the quirks of the quiz - our area is apparently “the south”
My NOVA town appeared when I picked south but not when I picked northeast.

Meh. This gave me $2500 results even when I narrowed to northeast only. More functional would likely be if the jobs option let you sort for the type of industry you work in.

Ha, NYT is telling me NY, a thousand times NY. Camillus, Westmoreland, Bethlehem, Cicero, Onondaga, New Hartford, Marcy Henrietta, I can't get out of NY!

Upstate ny may be depressed but it is the tops as a climate change haven.

Exactly what I got too!

It sounds like right now the modal choice of dcum users is upper New England.

What does this tell about dcum?

That it’s all white lesbians posting here?

Just going to take a wild guess that your political views are left of center

DP, but I was surprised that all of the areas I got skew very Democrat. I didn't pick anything under politics, or anything that was overtly left (like trans rights or abortion rights). The filters I chose were more like: trees, schools, air quality, which I thought would have gotten me more top results outside of liberal areas.

You must’ve selected more things because trees, mountains, air quality, schools, healthcare and climate risk was the only things i selected and I double starred and it is all Vermont and Maine.

I'm from the cheaper suburbs near Palo Alto and in my quiz results I got Palo Alto, followed by a bunch of nearby CA cities. If I add "trees" to my filter I get the expensive parts of Washington state.

Having a bit of a FML moment since we looked hard at moving back west and thought we couldn't make it work. But part of why it didn't work was schools and climate risk, two things NYT thinks are great back there. Way to stereotype, NYT.

I was familiar with most places but not Saranac lake ny — what’s the scoop on this place? Looks very intriguing
