I’ve had success with the Kirkland brand of rogaine. For me it’s a pain to use because it limits how long I can go without washing my hair. I’m fine to use it once without washing the next day but my hair is really weighed down at the roots if I use it twice without washing. I end up using it about every other night because of that and it works well enough for me that way.

Just to add another opinion about rogaine. I would talk to a derm and do your research before starting. I went on it impulsively for thinning hair and it did nothing for me. after starting I saw a derm and he said he wished I had seen him first before starting on it as he was not a proponent. Didn’t think it worked well. I was afraid to stop because it is known to trigger a massive shed but I just couldn’t deal with the idea of using it forever. It is a big pain in the butt to apply every day, especially when you don’t see a benefit. I hated it.

Ultimately i stopped snd the shed wasn’t too bad thankfully.

Everyone is getting older and realizing the harsh realities of AGE. And wondering how so many menopausal women are walking around with a head of hair a 20 year old would envy.

Sorry to be the voice of reason, but NOTHING will bring your hair back. Not now. Not ever. NEVER. Wigs will be your best friend. Lots of realistic styles, colors, and they are easier to maintain and work with than bio hair 99% of the time. Skip toppers (they are more trouble than they are worth) and dive into wigs.

+1. Minoxidil is the active ingredient in rogaine. I use the generic version they sell at target at 5% strength “for men”.

costco website for Minoxidil says it's for men. Is it because it impacts your hormones?

I read that it’s because Minoxidil will grow hair everywhere it comes in contact. If you drip it on your face regularly, you will get facial hair, etc. For men, the extra hair growth doesn’t matter the way it does with women.

Yes, you need to continue using it to maintain results. I put off using it for a long time because I was sure I’d find something better and more permanent. I didn’t and wasted years taking supplements and trying hair masques. I use minoxidil once daily and my hair is so much thicker snd has completely filled in where I was thinning.

My roots look wet after application but it looks normal by morning. I think you can do it twice a day but I’ve had great results with just nightly application. It takes about 30 seconds to do.
