Some people love that and look forward to it...I personally don't. Try to know your audience, I guess, but I think it's "acceptable" as a traditional dish. Other options would be green beans, asparagus, brussel sprouts.

Not IMO. Another option is pumpkin cake / pumpkin pie cake.

Turkey - just in oven with butter, salt, pepper (we've done the smoking thing, the bacon wrap thing, so many other things. This year - plain.)

For apps I have a cheese board, bacon wrapped dates, and empanadas.

For meal:

Roasted pork loin in apricot habenero glaze

French green beans

Duck fat potatoes

Sweet potato salad

Turnip Apple and onion gratin

Portuguese stuffing (chorizo and challah)

Oyster pie (oysters, butter, breadcrumbs)

We are hosting. Others bringing desserts (I hate to bake!) and booze. Lots of Prosecco...

I bake a loaf of sourdough, devil some eggs, brine a turkey, mash some potatoes then open a bunch of cans and bags for
Stovetop stuffing and Green bean casserole

We start with frozen cranberry salad (it’s almost like a sorbet), then
Turkey and giblet gravy
Bread stuffing
Ground veal and sausage “stuffing” with pine nuts and golden raisins
Mashed potatoes
Carrot soufflé
Green beans
Cranberry apple crisp
Rolls

Pie for dessert

I usually think of a green vegetable dish as something healthier but if it’s not in the menu I think it would be fine to bring.

We're French, and not having any Americans over, and the kids asked for cassoulet with duck: a slow-cooked confit of duck with beans. Naturally they didn't propose any vegetables, but I guess we'll do haricots verts, the really thin ones I like. And maybe order a cake for dessert.

It's just our family of 4 this year and everyone agreed that we didn't want turkey and wanted to do something nontraditional. So a seafood boil (complete with a table covered in butcher paper) it is! I'm more excited about Thanksgiving dinner than I've been in years
