I don’t think so. She doesn’t seem to have any separation anxiety. She signs to nurse during the weekends at the same rate as she does during the week. She also asks for her nanny and signs to go outside with nanny and happily says bye-bye to me. She can see me when I’m workin too (open office just around the corner from living room) so she knows I’m there.

Roughly 8 to 10 times. Only two true sessions - the rest just a few minutes.

Why would I be defensive? I’m not the OP and my kids were both formula fed. But I know enough about nursing a 14 month old to know it isn’t abnormal and certainly isn’t “weird”, you freak.

I think the number isn’t really the issue here. I’ve done extended nursing twice and am not super strict about weaning. But 8-10 times a day at 14 months does seem on the high end to me. I think at 14 months I did it around sleep times and then in other comfort situations when really nothing else would work. I’m a SAHM.

What strikes me about your situation is I’m wondering if your baby is asking for milk so often just to see you. It’s odd to me that you’re nursing “on demand” with a nanny. On demand to me kinda relies on mom and baby being actually together most of the day. I’m wondering if your baby just wants to see you baby she really wants to nurse, and she knows asking for milk is the best way to get your attention during the day.

Looks like its her way to check in with you. I would start slowing down those sessions and offer cuddles instead. I went through this with my 18month old second kid on weekends when she thought she could only get mama tome when nursing. Transitioned to cuddles and hugs and a moment with her and me instead of nursing. About a week of unpleasant and then she asked and i said no but she was ok with it

I was down to a morning and night nurse by 14 months.

8 times a day seems like a lot. I know by 14 months I felt a lot less tethered to my son and it was good for me mentally. My guess is thr baby is more using nursing as a soothing activity than actual eating, and maybe you could redirect her into something else, like being soothed by a hug or a song.

8-10 times?!? Sorry but your husband and nanny are correct…way too much.

Yes, she drinks water all day. When she asks to nurse our nanny offers he water and food and she says, “no wa wa. Mama!” And signs milk. When she’s with me she does the same.

Offer her some cow's milk with a squirt of strawberry or chocolate syrup. Slowly reduce the syrup. Schedule the boobs.
