I would like to space out the second second for my soon to be 5-year old and I was curious if preschools are open to that? Ours hasn't given any specifics yet, but I expect it to be mandated soon.
Our preschool said "by January" so there isn't really any time to find an appointment and line up both doses by then![]()
Wow! That is a really fast turnaround.
Fingers crossed our lets us space them out a little.
They only need to be spaced 3 weeks per the FDA. No one cares what some rando moms think they “should” be spaced. January is plenty of time-hop to it or find other options.

I totally agree. We have a mixed class of 4-5 yo in an outdoor program and they are requiring the 5 year olds to get vaccinated.
A parent can just do an exemption. It cannot be mandatory without approval.
Yes it can for private school
I doubt they can require it without full approval.

Umm- at least 75% of kids will turn 5 in preschool- everyone with September- May birthdays, not to mention a portion of the kids with summer birthdays- whose parents decide to redshirt.
But unless the school is only a pre-k, very few kids enrolled each year will be 5, since none of the kids in the 2s or 3s programs will be 5.

They can, but it's not without risks. Our nonprofit daycare/preschool has been through the ringer the last two years and is only barely still financially solvent- do places like this really want to risk a lawsuit? Our center has had one positive case this entire time- so requiring the vaccine now under EUA doesn't seem worth it.
FWIW, I think carrots are the better approach for now, e.g., not having to quarantine for exposure. I've given up hope on masks going away any time soon.

Lol no it’s not.
Wow, it totally should be!

Masking is responsible. I give up on people acting responsibly to protect others. It’s sad.
