Kind of missing the point there PP. I'll spell it out for you. Pitt is not 30 minutes outside of Pittsburgh - it is in Pittsburgh. Alabama is in, well...Alabama.

WVU offers a lot of merit aid and is an R1 research university.

aka Pennsyltucky. Although Dickinson College in Carlisle is a cute college. Not top tier, but the kids I know who have gone there enjoyed it and have done well.

Minnesota is probably the school most like Pitt for purposes of this chain--but it's obviously a much bigger university and it's a flight away. For folks looking for smaller and driveable, Temple and WVU probably will get hard looks. If distance is a problem but size isn't, add Penn State.

Many, many, MANY of their classes are still virtual. They can’t find enough professors because they will only use adjuncts they pay terribly. Tuition-payer beware with VCU right now.

That happened 50 years ago. Wisconsin doesn't have rolling admissions and hasn't since the 1980's. It is also a lot harder to get into than Pitt. The whole point of this thread is to identify schools that are relatively easy to gain entry as an early application to take the pressure off the process.

Agreed, but you don’t actually need to venture outside Pittsburgh into the surrounding areas if you don’t want to. I graduated from Pitt and I’m AA. We really didn’t go farther than the mall in Monroeville.
