Right now they should be more concerned with teacher burnout. It's real. And while other surrounding counties are doing things to accommodate the mental health and well-being of their teachers, MCPS is piling on more responsibility.

Is this for real? What do you think burnout is like in other professions? Nurses, truck drivers, law enforcement, retail, restaurant workers? Anyone who has been working in person during this pandemic. Are teachers somehow more ‘special’?
Teachers worked from home for over a year.
And for many, including myself, it was exponentially harder than coming into school.

Why is there a rent increase moratorium right now when we can't pay for subs? Is holding taxes lower the way to pay for more subs? Landlords pay more profits taxes into the county when rents are high, not low. There are donkeys in charge of this area!

It’s great for us working moms who have to physically go into work.
As always, thanks for the adequate notice so that we can scramble to make arrangements.

Would you feel more comfortable if you child sat in the gymcafetorium with 300 other kids watching movies the whole day? I’d rather mine were with me.

The way for MCPS to tackle this problem would have been to increase substitute teacher pay and increase their pool of subs.

You know, while I agree that MCPS needs to be concerned about the mental health and well-being of their teachers, that's a little rich given neither they nor the teacher's unions gave a damn about the mental health and well-being of their *students* last year. "KIDS ARE RESILIENT!!!" "SCHOOL ISN'T DAYCARE!!!!"
No one who actually knows anything about kids and/or mental health is surprised right now.
So you know every teacher in MCPS, and you know in fact that none of them cared about their students' mental health? None of them made accommodations for their students because they care and realized we were living through a pandemic?
TF out of here.
