Op here. I did but nothing substantive on the main page, just some vitriol about mcaullife lying. Not a great intro to the man.

OP, you're clearly a troll trying to stir things up, as usual. As another PP pointed out, learn how to Google. This is from his website.

Restore Excellence In Education
Virginia’s students have fallen behind because of extended school closings, lower school standards, and political agendas. Glenn will empower parents and restore excellence and commonsense in education by:

• Keeping Schools Open Safely Five Days a Week
• Restoring High Expectations & Getting Every Student College or Career Ready
• Ridding Political Agendas from the Classroom by Banning Critical Race Theory
• Rebuilding Crumbling Schools, Raising Teacher Pay, & Investing in Special Education Programs
• Creating at least 20 New Innovation Charter Schools across the K-12 Spectrum to Provide Choice

I am more concerned about his gun control views. He was not clear about them during the debates. Or at all, really, which is unfortunate because he may turn out to be a fking loon about guns and a lot of so-called "moderates" may feel bad.

Well we wouldn’t want to rip the unborn apart unless they could feel pain right?

Many of these "abortion ban's" force women to carry a non-viable fetus to term and have them die upon birth which is horrifying.

No, that isn't horrifying, although it is sad. Horrifying is killing the baby in a painful way and then delivering it in pieces because people can't face disability and death. I have two friends who took profoundly disabled babies to term and it was a spiritual time for their family as they held the baby and sang to it for a few hours before he/she died.

It is also horrifying how you objectify these babies as "non-viable fetuses." Over twenty-four weeks, just suck it up and deliver the baby.

Some of the above require legislation, others just require executive action. The GOP took control of the general assembly so they may pass a lot of his proposals.

On education, he has said: (1) Pass largest education budget in history (but he also said he would put a freeze on property taxes so many no net gain for public schools), (2) Build 20 charter schools - using Covid relief funds but not require any legislative appropriation (the upkeep and maintenance would redound to the local school district), (3) Eliminate the teaching of "critical race theory" in public schools (nothing curriculum specific here and unclear what is being targeted since), (3) Not implement any vaccine mandate or mask mandate in schools, (4) Provide more funding and resources for special education (nothing specific here), and (5) Encourage "excellence" in schools (vague - but maybe a reference to the proposed DOE plan to eliminate math tracks and just teach students of all levels in the same class (in small groups). He has not proposed this, but personally, I would like to see a candidate propose and require a year-long school option/non-traditional calendar, with very short 2-3 week breaks every quarter.

On taxes, he has also said he would eliminate income tax for retired veterans, double the standard deduction, eliminate the grocery tax, and waive licensing fees and taxes for businesses to draw employers to the state.

Oh goody, I can save a penny of tax on an apple.

Oh goody, you might be able to afford a basic primer on economics.

He didn't say he would eliminate income tax for retired veterans.

He said he would eliminate income taxes on the first $40K of veteran retiree pay. The rest would be taxed. Civilian pay would be taxed.

I think $40K is a little under mid level enlisted retirement pay, so colonels, generals, higher enlisted would still be taxed on a large chunk of their retirement pay.

He also said this would be a gradual implementation, not an overnight all at once change.

Ugh. We will not. The State Senate is still controlled by the Dems. There's not going to be any extreme abortion bills. And if there are, the backlash will surface in the next election cycle.

At least one of those Dems sides with Rs on abortion.

I had just 36 hours between learning my fetus was dying and getting the procedure to end my pregnancy. I just laid in my bed, feeling him in my belly, knowing he wouldn’t live to be born. 36 hours was just the right amount of time to process what was happening. I could not, NOT have endured more, and it is insanity that so-called pro-lifers would make women in that situation wait until the fetus dies naturally. The heartache - not because life isn’t valued, but because it IS - would be unnecessary and cruel.

The cruelty is the point.

Count all the votes is a good start but I don't think more are really coming in. I only say count all the votes because it's the law and Youngkins ran on protecting the constitution.

Terry needs to keep fighting here.

I hate his CRT racist dogwhistles and lying about abortion, but he ran a really good campaign. There's some unconventional stuff in his platform and so I can see why he won crossover support. He had a tailored message for Loudoun County because he's from that area. A GOP candidate from SoVA wouldn't have won this election.

I begrudgingly agree. Putting McAuliffe up as the Dem candidate was just lazy. And his major flub in that debate allowed the whole CRT fiction to grow legs. A different Dem candidate could have straddled the line.

Eliminating the particular taxes Youngkin is targeting is smart. I don't agree with his push for charter schools, but I think making that happen in NoVa is next to impossible, so I'm not too concerned. If they do come to fruition elsewhere I hope they are successful even though I oppose them on principle.

I have not looked at the numbers for Sears or the other GOP candidates that won, but Youngkin won at 51%. This was an upset, but not a landslide. The GOP in VA will have to moderate considerably if they want to continue to have a seat at the table.
