Mushroom growing kit
Sushi making kit

I bake a lot so we have absolutely everything we need. Never thought about buying cake in a mug ( horrors) but I think my DC would like to make that. If you also have baking stuff, maybe get some doilies, gold cake plates or muffin cups or individual cupcake holders. Kids are more into the presentation part!

Mine loved her mushroom kit! Order the Back to the Roots one, because it’s easy to use, and they’re guaranteed. My DD’s first one ended up with mildew on it, and she wrote in and they sent her another one.

It was SO cool to see those tiny dots grow into huge mushrooms practically overnight. My DD was kind of skeptical of mushrooms in food, but she had fun looking for a recipe to use them in once they were ready to harvest. It was a good way to get her to really give them a shot, and now she eats them all the time.

This year, she wants either an ice cream mochi-making kit or a molecular gastronomy kit, where you can turn juices into little spheres, create foams, etc.

Another good one might be a bubble tea kit. There are tons of those available now.

My daughter (now 13) loves a mother/daughter mani/pedi. Somewhere fun like NIB studio or varnish lane. We have been going together since she was maybe 10? Go out to lunch too.

Clothing from MANGO and Zara. Mango in particular has terrific clothing for teens!

Doc Martens? My 13 year old thinks they're "cute" which makes me laugh but just got her a pair of the ankle boots and those would make a good xmas present. Ugg slippers. airpods if she doesn't already have. LED lights for her room (those were my DD's present last year).

I gave DC an online class with a Great British Bake off contestant last year and it was interesting. The baker was just working out of his kitchen in England, which was neat to see because it was just a little country kitchen. The class was small, so very interactive. Plus DC right it was cool to have to adjust for a different time zone.

This year I got DC an airbrush icing thing, which hopefully will work. The reviews were mixed.

My sister is a dance teacher, and says all her teenage ballerinas wear Uggs before/after/between classes because they can slip them over their pointe shoes. It keeps the shoes clean, and keeps the muscles in their feet warm and flexible.

If your daughter doesn’t already have a pair, that might make an excellent gift.

I tend to see more of the colorful Bloch warm-up booties than Uggs at DDs' ballet school, at least inside the studio and year-round, but I agree that Uggs are great gifts that can get more general use in the winter.

My 12 yr old dancer/book lover was excited for this book that we got her last year:
