Agree that location is most important. We stayed at HHV in Aug with 4 in the room and a roll away. The room was fine but the resort was crazy busy. Long waits for elevators, long waits for food, towels, no pool chairs, etc. We went to Kauai after and it was so much better!
Where did you stay while in Kauai? We are considering the Grand Hyatt in August but afraid it will be incredibly busy.
Was at the Grand Hyatt is Kauai this past August at peak of the peak summer travel. It was busy, but we loved it and never felt overwhelmed or packed with people.
+1 we were there in Aug too and it didn’t feel crowded at all even with the hotel fully booked. HHV was so crowded it was crazy - I’ll never go back and this is from someone who has stayed there many times. Grand Hyatt is such a peaceful experience after the madhouse HHV was.

Even full, the Grand Hyatt is incredible. I wouldn’t hesitate to book there.

That’s strange. Our kids like being with us and don’t want their own room. We all sleep really well and enjoy the time together. We regularly stay in 2 queen rooms and it’s never been an issue. Why don’t you want to share room with your children? (Not OP.)
There’s plenty of reasons parents wouldn’t want to share a room with their teenage girls if they can find a way to avoid it. I love my kids but for a long vacation certainly would prefer if everyone could get a little space.
Okay, but who would “rather not travel” than have to (gasp!) share a room with their kids?

If you book the HHV room through Expedia, they goof up reservations about 90% of the time. Go to the front desk, you might get an upgrade, if you're persuasive.
