They'll do a investigation first. Then determine if anything is criminal.

Actually yes he is. As Producer (the highest ranking person on the production team) and Lead Actor if he says the set stays open - it stays open.

Alec wasn't just the lead on the film. He is a set producer. If he and his production team were making things unsafe for the crew and not following union guidance on safety, this is more than just a 'mishap'. Its negligence.

That film is not only dead. He's going to be sued out the wazoo.

For some reason, what I’m picturing is him joking around with a prop, maybe very stupidly aiming it as a joke when it went off.

And totally agree this may be the beginning of the real decline for him. He’s in really poor health, has had so many scandals with his family the last year, and the constant working combined with probable alcoholism and now the guilt of this awful event is just a recipe for a catastrophic event: a heart attack, stroke, mental breakdown.

What a horrendous story. Those poor victims, and I include Alec Baldwin in that group. Somebody in the props department massively screwed up and now a woman is dead and Baldwin is probably going to have a complete breakdown. You do not get over something like this. And whoever was responsible for correctly loading that gun and didn't do it or supervise it properly is probably headed the same way.

Crazy things happen on film sets. They lose all perspective somehow. Remember Midnight Rider, that film in 2014 where an assistant camerawoman died and 7 other crew were injured when filming on active railroad tracks and then a train came along? And then it turned out that they'd been denied permission by CSX multiple times and the director decided to trespass anyway and take a chance? He ended up in federal prison for involuntary manslaughter.
