This is the way to do this without being overbearing.


This. I model proper speech but don’t overtly correct. It all sorts itself out without much effort by age six or so.

My husband was joking around with our young son and accidently taught him that they were called "bald-headed eagle".

Always. Incorrect grammar is something I can't stand. I don't do it rudely, and I explain to them why what they said is wrong so that they will understand going forward, but I cringe every time I hear:

“He over there.” I heard this today from a grown man at the park speaking to someone else and had to reflexively correct. I told my kid it’s “He’s over there..” it’s slang to say He over there. I just cringe when I hear it.
