Good riddance. I've been pretty impressed by the military's handling of covid throughout the pandemic--especially including vaccine mandates and granting zero nonsense "religious" exemptions.

My son is in his 2nd year at USNA and loves it. The people he has met from all over the country has been an amazing experience. He has flown a plane, overnighted on a sub, participated in marine training, interesting lectures.... It's a totally different experience than a regular college and you have to be right for it. He is way busier than any of my other friend's kids with school work, military training and his sport. The independence, responsibility and discipline they learn is pretty impressive. He left the house a kid who was most of the time was woken up for school, driven because he was late, and on and on. He is now almost an actual adult - does his own taxes, controls all his finances, plans his own holidays/summers and medical care and...the list goes on. Yes, there are things he's not thrilled about (parades), but as he said the feeling of working toward a common goal and sharing this experience with the men and women in his company is incredibly powerful. They still definitely have a ton of fun too. Again, it's all about your mindset....definitely not the best place for everybody.

It’s not a typical College experience at all. It’s structure and regiment 90 percent of the time. And the only freedom they have is when they are allowed a pass to get off base. It’s a 47 month experience as they say. Summers are not free. They maybe have a few weeks off during summer. Your daughter can visit the academies for a week long summer camp during high school. My child didn’t so I can’t tell you when it is. I also got a lot of info from service academy forum
