Not really. Herndon for example charges $2100 plus team fees and that’s to play CCL. That’s in line with valor and others. It’s the cost of living in NoVa.
$2100 for non ECNL is expensive. After travel expenses etc will end up above $5000

OK, Herndon and local ECNL club parents are fleecing parents. I fixed it for you.
$2100 is getting fleeced? who charges less than that... and for what? I have one kid at a big club who pays less than that but the cost doesn't include tournaments or winter futsal, and they pretty much don't practice in the winter or summer. I have a kid at a smaller club who pays a bit more than $2100 but has practice year-round, 4-5 tournaments a year, and winter futsal. Also small club has one extra practice a week. The higher-cost club is a much better value for our money.
If I had to guess, I would assume that ECNL teams are paying a premium for the most highly trained coaches and that they participate in more (and more expensive) tournaments than other teams.
I used to be a treasurer for a team and, if you see a budget, you'd understand how a team can easily get to $2500 or even $3000. And the budgets I oversaw had coaches who were paid $1000-$1200 per month -- no one is getting rich off of this. But clubs and teams pay a lot of money for everything in this area!
Loudoun ECNL coaches are paid 40k per team.
no, they are not. trust me.

Team fees vary by age group depending on tournament plans etc. They are often based largely on last year's spending and are adjusted (up or down) mid-season in any case. Usually it's best to compare club fees and assume that team fees will work out the same.
Looks like Arlington has increased the club fees quite a bit recently though as they used to be on the low end. They have been getting greedier as they increased roster sizes in the last couple of years as well.
Can't compare club fees and team fees directly because, as a poster mentioned above, not every club breaks down fees the same into the same buckets, so the only way is to compare total cost that you pay to the club. I understand that not every team from the same club let alone from different clubs do the same tournaments, etc but total cost is the only way to go.
In which case you can only evaluate at year end, because at my DS' club we nearly always got a refund of ~$150+ at year end from the team fees.

This is Skyline which isn't really either a fair comparison since they're not in the same metro area as everyone else, nor especially useful since most of us can't join.
All the DMV area teams are much more than this. I think Loudoun is the most expensive down to Arlington and BRYC which are the cheapest.
Loudoun is $2500 with no additional fee. BRYC is $2100 with additional $500 team fees.
Loudoun has an additional fee.
Not all age groups.
