I actually got pregnant on just one IUI! And now we have a beautiful 16, almost 17 month old daughter who is doing well. So it is possible, b/c when doing an IUI, they say it is better for couples who have been trying for sometime and have failed, but more so if it happens to be the male's pathology, since when injecting the sperm, they will inject it closer to the uterus. Which increases chances of fertilization. Of course you will have to take some meds so that you can ovulate "better" for the sperm to reach, but the percentage for getting pregnant via IUI is higher, and then of course, the percentage increases even more so, with IVF. OP here again. For those who have male factor, just wanted to give you a bit of hope. According to my husband's sperm tests from 3-4 months ago, his count went from 15 million to 40+ million and motility from 25% to 50%. Don't remember whether morphology changed at all. I fed him Fertility Blend with Pycnogenol, then switched to Proceptin. So after dealing for so many years with the male factor, my eggs got old and now we have to fight an AMA hurdle. Trying IUI with injectibles this month.

OP here. Thanks to both previous posters for inspirational stories. We did two cycles of natural IVF at Dominion, both unsuccessful. At this point I am definitely losing hope, but stories like yours encourage me to continue trying.

Success story here. We had IVF/ICSI for DD#1 b/c of a 5% morphology. IVF was a success after the first round. 18 months later we started trying for #2 thinking that we'd give it 6 months then go back for IVF again. In the 6th month, bingo! Perfectly healthy pregnancy and perfect baby girl. Whew! Good luck, OP, whichever way you decide to go.

2 years ago my daughter got pregnant, the pregnancy ended quickly with some bleeding, a trip to the emergency room and a diagnosis of a "blighted ovum". They tried again for months and decided to have some tests. The morphology tests were so bad that originally the doctor told them this meant infertility, no chance of pregnancy. The morphology sperm count was good, everything else was the worse that it could be. They followed up with a specialist, sent sperm away for testing, I believe this was for dna fragmentation, this test came back okay. They then proceeded with IVF, no luck, again IVF, no luck. While saving up for the third test, because the insurance did not cover it, my daughter missed a period. She tested herself with 9 pg tests, all saying she was pregnant. We went in for a test with the doctor and VOILA.........she is in fact pregnant, naturally.We of course are nervous and they are going to watch her numbers through blood tests. The doctor is very very confident. IT CAN HAPPEN, so keep the faith. Good luck to all of you.

PP. we are going for a natural cycle IVF with ICSI at Dominion Ferility next month. I figured IUIs will be a waste of time and money for us (morphology - 4%, motility - 20% and count 18 million).

Hey there, we are in the same situation. We did semen analysis at two different clinics. And with 1st clinic we got morphology 8% & after 2 months with 2nd clinic we got 2% .
Now they are suggesting us to go for IVF/ICSI.

Age is the number one factor relating to egg quality. Fsh can not be used to measure egg quality, it only tells you how likely you are to stim well. But still, your low fsh does mean that your hormones are working as they should.

True, with one egg, there are less chances. But I'd rather try anything possible unmedicated. I just don't want to have a child as a result of an IVF on meds only to discover later that I won't be around to enjoy him/her.

I am not sure whether the quality of eggs is determined solely by age though. I read quite a few stories of women in their late 20's-30's having problems with the egg quality whereas my 41 year old co-worker is pregnant naturally with her healthy third child and other two acquintances of mine conceived naturally and had healthy babies at the age of 40.

Also, is an FSH indicator how good your eggs are? Mine is 3.1. Don't know whether it provides any information other than my ovarian reserve is still good.

I don't think many clinics do it, because statistically, it's not as successful, because you're just getting one egg each cycle. So I do think you have to expect that it may take a couple of cycles to succeed. But if you're young, your egg quality should be good, so I think your chances would be reasonable. Good luck! P.S.
