Oh, I was told the head of the Bethesda Board resigned because of this same type issue. Toxic parents speaking on the half of other parents. Meanwhile, the real issues (coaches) was ignored this off season. Now the Director of Coaching has pretty much a Dictatorship with the new Board. Oh, and so no one is confused, we are not talking the Head of Girls ECNL.

Chew on that. On the bright side, the girls teams are doing pretty well for the most part and have not yet been affected by all of this.

Happening right now at Bethesda. Certain parents be they board members, team managers, personal friends of coach can basically dictate the lineups.

Looking at you 2010s…

The ones who get me are the parents who completely complain on the sideline about everything both soccer and club admin related, but never step up to help.

Club soccer has become so big now every club should have a more professional administration. Either pay the coach a little more to do it or hire an admin. Take the volunteer parent out of it. It removes any bias treatment accusations.

It's life. It's pathetic. Sit back and enjoy watching your kid play. The manipulative parents are usually over-invested and living vicariously through their kids who they push, push, push until the kid really doesn't even enjoy being out on the field.

Seen this story a 1,000 times in my life.

I'm shocked by the time, money and stress these types of parents are pushing into their families lives. It's also shocking that many of the kids are not very good athletes. Soccer is so hard and demanding...and they really have no idea the level of speed, strength, skill and desire a kid needs to have to be good, let alone great. They just keep pushing and pushing for something that is not there...but every once in a blue moon the kids do something good and the parents race to social media to announce their success and unique superiority.

Interesting. We have a son at Bethesda, and I noticed that this year they updated the Parent Expectations to more clearly explain the appropriate process/chain of command for elevating any concern you may have. They specifically stated that under no circumstances should a parent contact a team manager or Board member with a concern. Sounds good in theory, as we’ve definitely seen meddling managers (along with mostly great ones) and people trying to influence playing time for their kid by joining a Club Board. On the other hand, BSC hasn’t always moved quickly to remove problematic coaches over the years, especially on the girls’ side, and some reasonable-seeming parents felt like they hit a brick wall trying to work through the proper channels.

Just discovered some of us (clueless) where included in said parent's complaints as agreeing with/backing them up towards issues only they have!! I had caught them fudging something between parents (claiming other families were doing specific training they were not) but now discover it gets worse towards the coach. I would think this is very eccentric but now wonder if other teams have had this too.

BRYC?

Here we go again. Someone is certainly obsessed with this club.

What kind of changes are you talking about OP?

Is practice getting moved to a field next to the manipulative parent’s house? I can’t even imagine what’s going on that would upset you this much.
