And all the non college educated white men and the Hispanics and black men who are coming over to the Republican Party recently will stay home. Rockefeller Republicans are a non-starter these days.

DeSantis seems to have some appeal to classic Republicans but also does not alienate Trump’s base like Romney and Haley. He would have a much better chance of winning a primary than Romney.

No kidding. He gets nominated, not elected. We saw this show in 2020 and it is pretty much the same in 2024.

Larry Hogan can thank Mitt Romney and John McCain for his 0% chance of appearing on a National ticket. McCain and Romney seemed to spend their entire post-presidential campaign careers stabbing Republicans in the back, making many Republicans wonder exactly how these two got to the top of the ticket. So no, there is no appetite for anyone like Hogan, who seems to only make news when disparaging his own party.

The people who put such stock in polls are always the ones who get burned.

The problem is that at this point, you need someone archly conservative, whether pro-Trump or not, to have a chance at winning the Republican nomination. The people best suited to win the Republican nomination are not suited to win the national election and vice versa.

Hogan sucks almost as bad as Haley.

NP. Trump wouldn’t be my choice but you can’t say that Biden is always more liberal than republicans. There’s nothing “liberal” about literally forcing people to get something injected into their body. We may agree with it now but is this really the precedent you want to set? I don’t.
