APE spoke about test-to-stay and cited other districts including MoCo.
“APE spoke”? Public comments are not school board discussion. I can’t believe so much time is spent on the public comments and not on the actual substance of the meeting.
What are you talking about? The meetings last for hours!
I’m talking about the comments here, not the actual meeting. People only focus on what the dummies in the public comment say, not the actual substance of the school board meeting.
DP. If you think there was something worth discussing, why don’t you start that conversation? Does everyone else have to do the work for you?
So you just listened to the public comments then, got it. The discussion was started - a question asked - did the School Board discuss any changes to the quarantine policies. I don't give a flying F what APE/AEM/DPA/ABCDEFG commented about it, I'm interested in the actual decision making.
Lol. School board doesn’t make decisions about anything that matters other than boundaries
Wow, no one here actually watches the meetings.
I watch but usually not until a few days later unless it’s a hot agenda. I usually have more time on weekends.
What were your takeaways?
No discussion about length of quarantine, however, they are enhancing the ability for students to learn during their time at home:
No later than Day 3 of a student’s quarantine period, schools will provide access one of the
following instructional delivery methods, as determined by their teacher:
• limited live streamed instruction (Live streaming allows students to view and listen to
their teacher providing instruction in the physical classroom in real-time. Not concurrent
instruction) OR
• recorded mini lessons on concepts for courses or grade levels (Not concurrent
instruction) OR
• collaborative work via Canvas or Google tools. (Not concurrent instruction)

APE has changed their tone and I think they sounded reasonable last night. The teaching shortage is here and it’s an emergency. At my school we still have unfilled positions. They have been recruiting nationally and not getting applicants. Several staff members are provisionally certified, with varying levels of competency. As for the AEA rep he sounds like he’s about to break. I think he needs to spend less time getting worked up online, it isn’t healthy. He seems addicted to it. He regularly posts his AEM posts to the teachers group, it’s like he’s in an endless loop.
Too bad Arlington parents didn't think of that last year when they were busy bashing teachers and blaming them for a worldwide pandemic that they didn't cause. All any prospective teacher needs to do is look here on DCUM at back threads to see what parental attitudes towards teachers are. They'll quickly realize that pretty much any other school district would be a better place to work.
LOL, which other school district is better for teachers, specifically? You didn't look at the MCPS, FCPS, ACPS, or DCPS threads, did you?
