Anyone in a costume gets candy at my house.

If you’re 14 and too cool for a costume but you’re still going door to door asking for candy, f—k off.

I'm so glad most people are saying teens can still ToT. I have an 11 yo. It hasn't occurred to her yet that some people may think she may be too old and I'm not telling her (because I disagree with them).

She won't have a problem because she's barely into puberty and she looks younger than she is. But she has friends who are basically starting to look like adults -- like they're my size and pretty well on into puberty. But their minds are still 11-12 years old and they are still kids. Keep in mind that the "teen" you think is showing up at your door may actually be fairly young.

When larger groups of minimally or not costumed teens show up, I respond based on what time it is and how much candy is left. If it is too early, I just tell them I am out of candy. If it is late...they can have it.

Yes seriously, it's some cheap candy from Walmart, who cares.

I don't understand ppl who want kids to grow up so fast or deny them fun. Esp right now.

I love kids of all ages, but we do turn our light off pretty early since ours are little.

I will even call out to teens walking down the street without costumes and saying, “you can get candy here even if you don’t have a costume”. They’re always so grateful, like it’s candy FFS. It’s such a great way to get to know the teens in your neighborhood.

My 12 yo feels like she is too old to go. She will pass out the candy though and I'll buy extra for her to have at home. She never did the group Halloween thing though, so maybe that's part of it.

If it's healthy fun, I'm all for it. I don't care how old they are. I'd rather have a 20 year old with no costume show up at my door for candy than have that same 20 year old egging people's cars.

Kids don't mature at the same rate. Not compared to peers, or even in their own interests and behaviors. Let them do fun things.

P.s. and to the one who says it on behalf of the group, he/she gets two pieces.

I will sometimes gently tease the older kids and teens who clearly desperately still want to ToT but also want to appear a little cool and not ask "trick or treat". I laughingly make them say it, and guaranteed one kid always takes one for the team and says it. I've never had rude kids, they always say thank you, and I'd so much rather they be out like that than in a basement somewhere getting into trouble. Especially for our tweens and teens who lost out on a lot these last few years if they want snickers at my door, more power to them!

My eldest stopped after 15. My 15 year olds plan to go this year.
