How does one go about this?

I don’t join the PTA for that reason and because our PTA is kind of a mess.
Donate to the school directly - books to the library, ask the teacher what supplies she needs, etc. At least you know your money is not being embezzled.

PP, where can I find more about this?
The MCCPTA Special Education Committee is currently recruiting special education representatives as part of their child's PTA and part of a larger network of advocates. Contact specialed@mccpta.org.

Between these ridiculous items and their support for busing, it is little wonder many people aren't joining the PTA in MoCo. The best option is to create a school-based foundation. That way, none of your donations are used against you by MCCPTA.

- should have been in placing before school started, and by mcps. And, when it rains? Or is too cold?
Covid testing in schools--MCCPTA
-because parents protested
Restorative Justice--MCCPTA
-a complete failure. Did you hear the girl who testified before the BOE about how she was forced to be in a room with her tormentors with their fake apologies? And will continue to have to face them at school?
Restraint and Seclusion (against)--MCCPTA
Removing SROs--MCCPTA
-just waiting for the first lawsuit on this. Arrests have been down since the SRO program was initiated, and they did a lot of good.
Equitable practices for identifying GT/magnet students--MCCPTA
-others say a disservice to Asians
Special education IEP compliance--MCCPTA
-still not happening
Water and air testing for all schools--MCCPTA
-a good thing, but took up an insane amount of time
Improving communications from MCPS to parents--MCCPTA
Advocacy for a new superintendent search--MCCPTA
-jury is still out on this one

- ungrateful? Meetings are so full of minutia, and a waste of time. Too many meetings, not enough action
