I have no idea what other children's MAP R scores are but I know my child scores a lot higher than some of the CES kids!

OP here, not mad at all just think that the system is unfair and proud of my child that even though my child did not get into the CES program and still performs better than a lot of the children in the program that means we are doing an excellent job enriching my child at home!
My kid went through the CES program and it really is a lot more interesting and challenging than the regular curriculum. I feel my kids became much better writers; however, it had little to no impact on their reading skills. In fact, their map is almost the same at the end as it was when they started. If I had done more that wouldn't have been true, but the school isn't going to really do much for that at least not in my experience. And yes, I think you should feel badly. It doesn't seem right but they chose to use the 85% lottery so the selection wasn't based on high scores.
