Current First Two Teams. They are not all the brand name, and I hear you about EDP D3, however if we are talking about competitive teams, these teams other than U13 have showed the ability to maintain at the top of the first division in their age bracket. Perhaps not all of these teams can win consistently against the top teams in ECNL/MLSNEXT, but I am certain they would compete against them.

Once you step into individual players and college placement/recruitment, the resources available to clubs and to those players with connected/knowledgeable parents become more apparent.

I think you must know you are kidding here, but I will respond anyway - for the sake of any poor parent driving by this forum (before they figure out to flee in terror) trying to actually find information.

None of these teams would compete with the top ECNL/MLS Next teams.

Many of the teams you list are actually third teams (not second teams - third teams) from Arlington and Loudoun and VDA (PWSI). And Loudoun and VDA are not really top MLS Next / ECNL clubs. And as an FYI when Arlington, for example, scrimmages internally the top team plays the second team in the next age group up - and usually wins convincingly - so imagine how it would do against the third team in its own age group. My guess is you'd get margins of victory ranging from 3 goals to, quite possibly, double digits in games where the luck fell the better team's way.

I'm thinking don't quote me on this but edp div 1 and 2 are usys leagues and you sign up for usys leagues not edp you can be basically a ncsl div 4 team and apply for usys however if they don't accept you then you can just go to edp league but by the looks of it syc never applied for usys so they got placed in the highest edp league

edp 3/ncsl division 2
edp 4 and championship division/ncsl div 3 lower/ccl2(some of the teams in ccl2 shouldn't be there) for example some barca teams some npsc etc.

I know this is in jest, but funny enough I went to an ACC match this weekend. It was terrible. The most boring brand of soccer I've seen in a while. I'd rather watch U18/19 club matches.

It all depends given the club and age groups. There are CCL1 teams that beat ECNL teams.. There were NCSL div 1 teams that beat CCL1.. and vice versa… it’s laughable that people post here that X league is a road to college. It’s not… Show cases…. HS.. and coaching connections are what get then majority of kids looked at. But I do agree CCL is going to fold or merge within a year or two

I don't think ECNL-R is a threat to EDP. I believe it's growing. It is the only league besides NCSL that as multiple levels. It is a much better set up all around.

Doesn't SYC have a CCL team at U13 or did they leave CCL? Which team is that? And they have kids on the Virginia Union team, too, I assume. How many teams do they have.

Yes, ECNL-RL is good, but not the best. It’s far better than CCL Prem now. But before it was rebranded as ECNL-RL, when it was called NPL, they were pretty even. But now Arlington and Loudoun’s second teams joined them. Of course ECNL is still better than ECNL-RL. EDP divisions 1 and 2 are solid. But let’s be honest that Division 3 and lower are not good. I would say that the youth soccer pyramid is:

MLS Next/ECNL
ECNL-RL/EDP D1 and D2
CCL 1 /EDP D3 and D4
NCSL 1 and 2/CCL 2/
NCSL 3 - 5

I would have to agree that MLS Next is on par with ECNL and because of relegation and promotion I would put NCSL Div 1 at that level as well.

There is no way that two clubs in the area represent the best. I know it is somewhat unclear what is being ranked here, but if it is overall team competitiveness then there are couple teams in ECNL-RL that would compete with MLS Next and ECNL teams.

I hope that for those parents reading this and have their son playing below the line realize their isn't college opportunities if they decide to quit travel. Yes, there are always exceptions to the rule, but mostly college coaches will want to know what league the player was in before they see anything else. If this is all for fun and staying fit, great and no need to worry about ranking. Just don't buy what your club is telling you if you're below the line.

CCL top clubs are good and can compete. ECNL-RL is the same. Both leagues have top clubs and both leagues have some weak clubs that fill out numbers.

You forgot Legacy and FFC. That allowed the north/south divisions in ECNL-R. Now that there is a north division it makes no sense for the NOVA clubs still in CCL to not make the switch. A lot of parents at NOVA CCL clubs are going to think it’s stupid to go play Roanoke or Rush when they could play local rivals within an hour or less.

FFC and Legacy were very poor clubs at the end of their CCL run. Good teams in a few age groups but look at the standings. Both clubs are near the bottom in almost every age group. The drive definitely is a major factor.

FFC does look terrible based on CCL standings last year. Girls side, u14 - u18 they had teams in only 2 age groups and no team in 3 age groups. It looks like this year they at least managed to scrape together a team in every age group. Maybe the ECNL-RL branding was able to attract some NCSL players.
