There are countless happy successful people that attend Emory, some famous if you want to google it. If your reason for rejecting Emory is not enough famous alumni than great for you but that is not a critical criteria for any of the students i have seen choosing colleges and I have seen plenty go through this.

Np, I think Emory’s reputation suffers a bit relative to Duke and Vandy due to its lack of football team and high level athletics generally. It just seems less fun.w

I think this site, particularly the college forum, is populated by some strange individuals. I have also noticed the Emory hater. A good friend of mine attended years ago and I visited there. It was a stunning campus with so many intellectually interesting things on offer and the people I met - all students, were diverse and interesting. I couldn't' find one bad thing to say about it and neither could they.

I went to Emory 20 years ago and was well prepared for my Ivy grad. It is beautiful, fun, rigorous, and a great place to spend your undergrad years. But it is SO expensive now it’s very hard for me to rationalize that. I certainly don’t think you should take out big loans to go there. So that leaves only the very wealthy to attend, which is a shame.

Oh and silicon valley really isn't prestige oriented like Wall street is so, your not really making any points there.

Duke, Vanderbilt, Brown, Princeton, Yale, Columbia, Harvard, MIT, Northwestern, UChicago, WUSTL, UPenn, Rice, and I’m sure a few others I’m missing too. All mid-sized colleges near or in cities. All significantly better than Emory in just about every way.

I'm not the one talking out of my behind saying Rice is mediocre. Emory, Rice, Vandy etc all have their strengths and weaknesses. However, I do know 3 Emory grads at Facebook, but I'm not sure if that counts as Silicon valley, I'm not in that field. In my field Rice is a non starter, but I would be a fool to call a top 20 school mediocre. DC must have been rejected from Emory or something.
